Murder suspect captured

  According to Union Springs Police Chief Jake Wheeler, a murder suspect was caught in the city last Wednesday, Nov. 17.    Wheeler said his department received a notice from the Columbus, GA Police Dept. that a murder suspect might be in the city of Union Springs.    Learning of his possible whereabouts, officers surrounded a house on Holcombe Ave. and found the suspect. He was identified by the Chief as being 36-year-old Wade Daveka Daron, black male. Wheeler further said the man was wanted on charges of murdering Kelly Leggett in Columbus, GA on Nov. 9, 2010. A shotgun was used in the murder.    Daron was transported back to Columbus, GA after receiving extradition papers from Judge Daniel. Local officers took the suspect to meet officers from Columbus.    Chief Wheeler further told the Herald that the suspect lived in Union Springs 22 years ago.    Officers assisting in capturing the suspect were Chief Wheeler, Lt. Mittie Murry, Sgt Fred Smith, Sgt. Nathan Williams, Sgt. John Spencer, Cpl.

Surrey Calhoun, Sheriff Rodgers and Deputy Anthony Williams.
